The activity was spearheaded by the Education Support Services Division (ESSD) led by Functional Division Chief Dr. Edmund D. Mendoza, and organized by the Health and Nutrition Unit headed by Regional Medical Officer Dr. Jumer C. Carlon. The four-day event was divided into two batches, with Batch 1 held on November 25–26 and Batch 2 on November 27–28. Highly qualified speakers and trainers facilitated the sessions and ensured the effective delivery of the program.
Both batches followed the same agenda and training methodologies, differing only in the roster of participants. The first day of the training focused on theoretical inputs that established foundational knowledge on life-saving procedures. Participants completed a pre-test to assess their initial understanding of the concepts.
On the second day, learners engaged in hands-on simulations to apply what they had learned. These practical sessions included performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), proper use of a bag-valve mask (BVM), and responding to foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO). A post-test was administered afterward to evaluate improvements in knowledge and skills.
The training concluded with a brief recognition ceremony to acknowledge the commitment and active participation of the attendees. Certificates of completion and participation were awarded, while select individuals received special recognition for their exemplary performance in simulation activities. The event was capped with a group photo to commemorate the collective achievement of the participants.
Overall, the Training on Basic Life Support and First Aid highlighted the importance of preparedness and prompt action during emergencies. By equipping DepEd Caraga personnel with essential life-saving skills, the region continues to strengthen its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its workforce, learners, and the broader school community.
