The program opened with the National Anthem and Caraga Hymn, followed by a spirited opening salvo performed by students of Libertad National High School under the Special Program in the Arts. Assistant Regional Director Pedro T. Escobarte Jr. welcomed the participants, while Dr. Adrilene Mae J. Castaรฑos (PDO IV) led the recognition of distinguished guests, partners, and stakeholders who came in full support of the event.
Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion delivered an inspiring message that drew warm participation from the audience. She opened by inviting everyone to declare with pride: โCARAganda, CARAgaling, CARAmazing, and CARAGOLDโโa cheer that captured the spirit and excellence of teachers in Caraga.
In her speech, Director Asuncion underscored the significance of celebrating National Teachersโ Day, which is officially recognized under Presidential Proclamation No. 242 and reinforced by Republic Act 10743, designating October 5 as National Teachersโ Day in the Philippines. She explained that this decree is more than a law; it is a reminder that teachersโ contributions are pillars of nation-building.
Turning to the crowd of educators, she delivered heartfelt words: โWe see you, we value you, we thank you.โ She further assured teachers, โYou are loved, cherished, and never alone in this journey.โ Her message resounded with gratitude and recognition, emphasizing that teachers are true โeveryday heroesโ who nurture dreams and shape the future of learners.
Messages of support from government officials in attendance added weight to the celebration. Each extended their appreciation for the unwavering service of teachers across Caraga.
Cultural presentations from various Schools Division Offices showcased the regionโs rich talent and artistry, blending music, dance, and tribute performances that captured the spirit of gratitude to educators. All took turns in honoring teachers through creative performances.
The program concluded with the โWays Forwardโ message by Mr. Edmund D. Mendoza, Chief Education Supervisor of ESSD, who highlighted the continued efforts of DepEd Caraga to strengthen partnerships and uplift the teaching profession.
The celebration ended on a high note with a Zumba session led by SDO Butuan City, energizing the participants and symbolizing unity and wellness within the teaching community.
This regional kick-off set the tone for the nationwide celebration of National Teachersโ Month, affirming once more that teachers remain at the heart of building dreams and nurturing hope for the Filipino youth.
