𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗚𝗜𝗗𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀
The one-day outreach brought essential health and nutrition services to learners, teachers, and school personnel in three geographically isolated and disadvantaged area (GIDA) schools: Rizal National High School, Rizal Central Elementary School, and Roxas Elementary School. The initiative forms part of DepEd Caraga's efforts to ensure equitable access to quality health services and strengthen learner support programs in underserved communities.
The Regional Office personnel who joined the activity were Dr. Jumer C. Carlon, Medical Officer IV; Dr. Christy R. Pueblo, Dentist III; Rena Grace G. Tul-id, Nutritionist Dietitian II; and Joshua Lachica, Technical Assistant I for School Health Programs.
They were joined by the medical team composed of Dr. Jean Mandap, Medical Officer III; Dr. Roschelle Paeste, Medical Officer III; and Dr. Lyra Pilarte.
The dental team was composed of Dr. Johna C. Rulona, Dentist II (Agusan del Norte); Dr. Ruby Mae G. Paculada, Dentist II (Bislig City); Dr. Famela Grace S. Felicio, Dentist II (Surigao City); and Dr. Jhoanna Evajean E. Loren, Dentist II (Surigao City).
Assisting them were the dental aides Gilbert Barete and Albert Delapuz of Agusan del Norte, and Jimlyn Ligtas of Surigao City, as well as the nursing personnel Sarah Gallogo; Solly May A. Topia; Aziel Arvy S. Robles; Rex E. Rojas; Jade Jen M. Dela Cruz; Eljean B. Desamparado; Joezl Ann Marie Phynn L. Montante; JD Roxanne C. Laid; Twinie R. Antipasado; and Elgine J. Borja.
𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
Prior to the delivery of services, the Regional Team paid courtesy visits to Rizal National High School Principal Maria Cristy L. Gealan and Rizal Central Elementary School and Roxas Elementary School Principal Allan M. Licong to express appreciation for their support and reaffirm the Department's commitment to collaborative implementation of school health programs.
The outreach provided medical consultations, dental examinations and treatment, nursing services, nutrition assessments, health education, and other wellness interventions for learners and school personnel. In adherence to DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2026, all health services were conducted during after class hours to ensure that instructional time was not disrupted.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴
As part of the Nutrition Month celebration, the Regional Team also spearheaded a Malunggay Tree Planting activity to promote sustainable nutrition, encourage food security initiatives, and strengthen awareness of healthy dietary practices within school communities.
𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲
Expressing her appreciation for the initiative, Rizal National High School Principal Maria Cristy L. Gealan underscored the significance of bringing convergent health services to their school.
"Our schools are very much lucky and blessed to receive such services since, from its 60 years of existence, and we are looking forward to have such convergence in the near future." Gealan said.
𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴
The successful implementation of the outreach was made possible through the support and collaboration of Dra. Anna Liza A. Lerio, DMD, Fresh Q Enterprises Corporation, the Department of Health (DOH) Dinagat Islands, the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands, the participating Local Government Units (LGUs), and the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs).
Their partnership strengthened the delivery of comprehensive health and nutrition services to schools in geographically isolated communities.
The Regional Medical, Dental, Nursing, and Nutrition Outreach reflects DepEd Caraga's commitment to strengthening school health and nutrition programs through convergence and partnerships, ensuring that quality health services reach learners regardless of their location and contributing to the Department's goal of nurturing healthy, resilient, and lifelong learners.
