SURIGAO DEL NORTEโ The Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office XIII, through the Education Support Services Division (ESSD), conducted a four-day Regional Monitoring on Health and Nutrition Programs in the Schools Division of Surigao del Norte from July 21 to 24, 2026, to strengthen to strengthen OK sa DepEd program the implementation.

Before the school visits, the Regional Monitoring Team paid a courtesy call to Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Karen L. Galanida and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Segundino A. Madjos, Jr., who expressed their support for the activity and reaffirmed the Divisionโs commitment to advancing learner health and nutrition programs.

The activity aimed to assess the implementation of school health and nutrition initiatives, provide technical assistance, validate program implementation, and identify best practices and areas for improvement in delivering learner support services.
The Regional Monitoring Team visited seven schools: Wangke Elementary School, Gigaquit Central Elementary School, Camboayon Elementary School, Ipil Elementary School, Villafranca Elementary School, Bad-as Elementary School, and Anao-aon Elementary School.
The team was composed of Dr. Christy R. Pueblo (Dentist III), Rena Grace G. Tul-id (Nutritionist-Dietitian II), Melody Lou B. Villaplaza (Technical Assistant II โ School-Based Feeding Program), and Joshua Lachica (Technical Assistant I โ School Health Program).

The team assessed the implementation of school health services, oral health and nutrition initiatives, the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP), and other learner support programs. They also validated records, inspected facilities, and conducted consultations with school heads and program coordinators to ensure compliance with DepEd policies while providing technical guidance.
The monitoring also served as a venue for schools to share good practices and discuss implementation challenges, enabling the Regional Office to recommend strategies for continuous program improvement.
